Meg Burstow is a versatile Brisbane-based musician who enjoys a diverse career as a performer, accompanist, and educator.
Her first love is playing the piano, whether it be in a jazz bar, theatre stage, or AMEB exam rehearsal room.
Growing up in regional Queensland, Meg formed her musical foundation in learning classical piano, playing in school orchestras, and accompanying the local community choir. This led to a Bachelor of Music in Performance (Distinction) at the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University in Brisbane, where she studied both Classical and Jazz Piano, and in 2019 was awarded the prestigious Conservatorium Medal.
Meg's background as a jazz pianist and choral accompanist has enabled her to develop a strong affinity for working with singers and vocal groups. In 2021, Meg was the Musical Director for Women in Voice, as well as a keys player and rehearsal pianist for several local productions including Ipswich Musical Theatre Company's award-winning Pirates of Penzance and Legend House's All Together Now at the Gold Coast Star Casino. She is looking forward to several upcoming productions in 2022, including continued workshops and musical support of the vocal program at Aldridge State High School in Maryborough, where she has helped facilitate a professional band to accompany students for school and community events since 2019.
Meg is a highly sought-after pianist for weddings, corporate events, and session musician work, and is available for booking for recording sessions and private tuition. Other ongoing projects include salsa band Salseros and Indian fusion artist Menaka.
